Bosa brothers could unite as pass-rushing forces after Chargers release Joey image

It might just be time for Joey and Nick Bosa to unite as pass-rushing forces.

The Los Angeles Chargers released Joey on Wednesday night in what was largely a cost-saving move. Now, nothing stands in the way of a family reunion.

Nick is under contract with the San Francisco 49ers until 2028, and teams can always use more players to get after opposing quarterbacks.

In 2023, Nick said, “Joey’s definitely looking good financially, but I think him on the other side would be kind of, I think it might break the NFL.”

Joey, who will play the upcoming NFL season at 30 years old, and Nick, approaching 28, haven’t played together since high school.

That came in the fall of 2012, when Joey was a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fl.) and Nick was a freshman.

The brothers just missed crossing over at Ohio State, as Joey’s draft spring led right into Nick’s freshman fall.

Joey has compiled 72.0 sacks in his NFL career, while Nick is at 62.5 and counting.

Joey, who has averaged nine games per season over the past three years, would likely have to take a sizable pay cut to join the 49ers. It could be worth it, though, to play with his baby brother.
