The reported sighting came from Kern County, about three hours away from where the 7-month-old went missing in San Bernardino
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported a possible sighting of the 7-month-old boy who went missing in Southern California about a week ago.
Rebecca Haro, mother of the missing Emmanuel Haro, told authorities last week that she was assaulted and knocked unconscious on Aug. 14 while she was changing her son’s diaper outside her car near a Big 5 store in Yucaipa. She said that when she woke up, he was gone.
After investigators asked her about inconsistencies in her initial statement, however, she refused to continue with the interview. The sheriff’s department said in a news release that it was “unable to rule out foul play.”
Police on Tuesday seized a car belonging to Emmanuel Haro’s father, Jake Haro, saying it was “collected for evidence processing,” a spokesperson for the sheriff’s department told USA Today. The Mirror US has contacted the sheriff’s department for further updates.
“Investigators have not ruled out anyones involvement and are following up on all leads and tips,” Rodriguez reportedly said.
The sheriff’s department said on Wednesday that a potential sighting of Emmanuel Haro was reported in Kern County, located about three hours northwest of San Bernardino County. The department could not offer additional information about the alleged sighting.
Rebecca and Jake Haro have come under scrutiny since their son went missing last week.
“Rebecca was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement and declined to continue with the interview,” the sheriff’s department said in a news release on Saturday. “At this point in the investigation, investigators are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of Emmanuel.”

Rebecca Haro told KTLA last week that she heard someone speaking Spanish before she was knocked unconscious in the store’s parking lot.
I was going to get the diaper and somebody said, Hola, and I dont remember anything since, she said. I woke up here on the floor and I didnt see Emmanuel.
The Sheriffs department said deputies and police dogs conducted an extensive search but they could not find the boy.
