While South Park took to Instagram to tease its new episode titled Sickofancy, viewers begged the creators for one thing as they believe the season is turning ‘tiresome’
While South Park fans were originally delighted at the content of the new season, they are starting to grow tiresome.
The hit comedy show has spent the majority of its 27th season criticizing President Donald Trump’s administration, specifically key individuals apart from it like Vice President JD Vance, Karoline Leavitt and Kristi Noem.
At the start of the season, they received praise by many of their fans, including The Late Show host Stephen Colbert, who branded the creators as innovators. Now, as season 27 approaches its third episode, viewers are calling out the same writers for being stale as they tease their upcoming episode titled Sickofancy.
South Park took to Instagram showing a teaser of their Wednesday, Aug. 20 episode, which appears to show the beloved character Towelie getting off a bus in front of the White House.
He appears amazed by the U.S. capital as he says, Wow. This seems like the perfect place for a towel, while a military tank passes through the streets.
Some fans were delighted to see the iconic character back on screen as one said, Hell yeah Towlies back.
However, the majority seemed to be dismayed by the seasons familiar backdrop, with another questioning, Am I the only one missing the boys going on fun adventures? Constant blatant political commentary gets old.
A third wrote, The trump stick is getting stale. Don’t get me wrong the first two episodes were good but can we have something more original?
Focus more on the main boys. The season gets tiresome when you focus mostly on news stories, a fourth demanded.
The first two were funny but this is getting old quick, someone else explained. South Park was supposed to be an escape, making fun of the good and the bad. Now its always the bad and way too much about the state of the world. I just want to mindlessly watch my goofy show without the constant reminder that the world is falling apart.
The fans disappointed reactions come almost a month after South Park brought in its biggest premiere audience since 1999.
The season premiere, which attracted an impressive 5.9 million viewers across Paramount+ and Comedy Central, took aim at Trump, depicting the president with a micro-penis and his boyfriend Satan.
Taking down Paramount with the president, the writers, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, also used the segment to openly criticize the company for their $16 million settlement on a lawsuit the president filed over the way a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris was edited in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
